Waxy in The Boston Review
2.01.2007

The check came last week, but to be honest, I am more excited to see my photograph in the latest issue of the Boston Review Magazine. Though I have been published before, what makes me so happy now is that this is an esteemed magazine for not only its forward thinking articles -- but also art.

Turning to page 27 is my photograph called "After School Special." It was taken in November, 2006 while I was working in Guadalajara, Mexíco. It is an image from my Street Photography collection. After School Special accompanies an editorial piece by Maureen N. McLane called "The Crucible: What’s at stake in the sex-ed wars." It is a history of the debate over sex education in schools.

The Boston Review was nominated for a 2006 Utne Independent Press Award in the category of Best Writing. If you get a chance, go to your local newsstand and maybe you can find a copy or two. It is on display til March 7. Check it out!
