This past June, Waxy Photography traveled half a world away for an international travel photography assignment. The United Nations sponsored event -- Metropolis Commission 5 -- convened in Iran with stops in the capital city of Tehran and Mashhad, the country’s Islamic seat. Invited experts from Australia, Canada and Spain came to share their knowledge and experience about sustainable urban development to an audience of politicians, urban planners and educators from within the country and the surrounding region.
As Metropolis wrapped up, I found myself surrounded by the traditional cuisine, and a people and history that make up the long and storied Persian culture. My gracious hosts introduced

me to destinations that are traditionally off-limits to non-Muslims and the western world, including the holy shrine of Imam Reza – the 7th descendant of Mohammad. This latter segment of my travel was used to produce more traditional travel photography and art that will eventually find its way into various venues and publications, for editorial, photojournalism, stock photography and art prints.
While this was my first trip to Iran, I have extensive travel experiences which include destinations in Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. If you have an upcoming travel photography project, please contact Waxy for a detailed quote. Waxy is a freelance and event photographer available for local, national and international assignments. He is also available for commissioned projects.
